IRIS BROSCH JOINS 360FASHION

during the exhibition in venice, italy on the DIVINITY OF WOMEN, anina.net participated as one of the artists shot by iris brosch in her Tableau Vivent art exhibition.

anina.net points the camera back at iris to create a blog portrait of her as the event unfolds in venice. this is a real-time portrait of a iris brosch, as seen from the mobile perspective of the object of iris's creation.

all artists add a bit of themselves to their artwork, thus, being the object used to create divinity, the divinity of iris brosch was captured in digital format.

Arrival to Venice

The models have arrived and heading to the meeting point near san marco place to meet the rest of the team and iris.

The Exhibition Base

Set designer, barbara straib, is in the process of creating the exhibition space with iris's material.

We have arrived to the exhibition hall, which is the base for all our activities. Pierre, iris assistant has explained that hair and makeup will be done here for the models, and then we will move every day to different locations around Venice to shoot. Iris will create a Tableaux Vivants with all the models, which is video recorded and mixed live by a VJ--projected in real time on screens in the exhibition center. This is just to start.

Iris has arrived to greet us, taking a break from the preparation to make sure we are well cared and everything is clear.

The Main Theme of the Exhibition

The main message is about the FEMALE SPIRIT.

"We are missing female spirit on this planet. We want to have more female energy here. . ." iris says, when i catch her in between site construction. "I think it is time to create a new kind of icon; of a woman which is in touch with sexuality, her grace, her beauty, her intelligence, and with her soul."

Last night

Dinner offered the opportunity to meet the rest of the team arriving from germany, italy, new york, and austria. Everyone spoke in a passionate manner about the exhibition preparations. Then, back to work.

Preparations of the night before

The hairstylist was already setting up the hair pieces for the models tomorrow. We are to have long long hair.

The floral team was busy at work organizing the flowers flown in from holland. Iris is sponsored by Thierry Louveau from Metz in Holland.

Eve is taking care of the documentation of the event and has been filming for many hours already.

The make up has started this morning with the idea of illumination. A little bit of gold shine to highlight to bone structure, some light pink on the cheeks, and some rouge on the lips. The idea is to let the natural beauty of the woman shine through in her individual way.

Iris is photographing the women who will walk all over venice announcing the exhibition. It is thrilling to watch iris work.

I get to wear the dress with iris's photo printed on it. The dresses were designed by jean louis pinabel, in a special french style called "plissés". Jean louis worked in association with the house of lognon, a plisseur who handles many of the couture in paris.

We have done a shoot in the exhibition and now we will go to the gardens by boat. The rest of the crew will go by foot with the choir singing.

Now we are on the boat riding to the gardens. This is all still the rehersal for tomorrow's performance. We walked 3 times around the church by the exhibition center, and already the spectators went wild. There is an sacred air blowing around us. As the singers walk before us with iris between them we feel a grace and happiness begin to tie us together.

We arrived before everyone else and iris had the chance to share with us her ideas of divinity. We spoke together, all of us, of how in the renaissance period venus represents the woman as a global model even still today. Representing a white, blonde haired, woman. There is no inclusion of black, asian, or other women from different cultural backgrounds shapes and sizes. We spoke about how society gives women only two choices of what to be: innocent and untouched, or temptress and impure. This is where finding divinity in women comes into play, it transcends these two roles and allows the woman to enter a global space--whatever form she may take. It is a spirit and a shift in consciousness that is offered to all of us on the planet today. A necessary shift for the world to become more balanced. Iris spoke about how today in the fashion industry, advertising industry, and film industry, women are often portrayed as sex objects or masculine. In the work place women often have to compete against each other for what little space they have inside the corporate structure, because there are so few of them present. How can women balance by themselves the roles of mother, lover, sister, career, and their own creativity?

The rehersal went well and iris is pleased with our interaction. Shooting with her is a great pleasure. She created the spirit for us to dance in.

The hair and makeup have started early today. The announcers have departed to promote the exhibition all over venice. Last instructions from iris. Everyone is excited.

As the ceremony started, iris lead us with grace around the city with the choir singing. She threw flowers on the women and men we passed in the streets. It was beautiful to see the enchanted reactions of the people. Young girls ran forward in her path to take the petal gifts from her.

As she lead us to the boats, many of the spectators followed the procession. Half the models went in one boat and half to another. As we drove around the canals, iris shot the us in the boats.

When we arrived to the garden it was full of spectators. Iris lead us to the center and sat with us. The singers created a holy atmosphere for us to play in. The Tableau Vivants came together under iris's direction beautifully. We were all able to express our divinity with grace by creating beauty together.

Iris's excitement and energy never stops. One more photo. One more shot. Her creativity generously flows from her.

The photos seem to fall together as we play and laugh into the night. The assistants start to make light when there is not any.

The mirror

It is the last day of the exhibition and it's very busy in the make up room. So many people are interested in women in art. There are many people passing to see the exhibition. Even as we returned from the shoot last night people stopped me in the street to compliment us on our hair and ask if we were in a performance. They said that there was also a female installation by the gorilla girls in the biennale.

Seems like bottachelli is back, but being reinvented, just as iris said.

The mirror effect
iris and barbara used the mirror to reflect the crowds who were gathered around us for the photos. They also walked around the perimeter of the audience showing the spectator's individual reflections to themselves. Some people looked, others did not. It was interesting to watch each person's reaction to their own beauty.

It has been a long day. Iris has kept the spirits up and the creativity high. Today was spent shooting in the streets of venice and this time incorporating the spectators into the photos. A very big work. The last shooting will be tomorrow at 3 am to 7am shooting in the streets of venice.

Bringing to public into the photo

One of the main points of iris's concept is to make her processs of creating divinity available to the public. The idea for the afternoon is to bring the public into interaction with the Tabldaux Vivent; to have them be a part in bringing their own divinity to the project.

walking around venice wasn't very difficult, the group was accompanied the whole way by the choir singing!

in every location, iris chose from
the spectators someone to participate. they were dressed by the stylist, and then guided by iris as to where to be in the Tableau Vivent.

BY THE SEA

the two italian girls were brilliant, giving so much energy and being very beautiful. ingrid is a belly dancer by profession, so she was able to call upon her femininity to play in the breeze with the fabrics. the other model, alice, is studying at the acadamia del arte in venice, and has 2 paintings in the biennale exhibition at the acadamia. she would like to become a fashion photographer and had been a long time fan of iris brosch's work.

ALICE

when alice saw the announcement saying iris looking for local girls to photograph, she was sure she would not fit as she had seen iris's portraits of tall, skinny girls. she was not aware that iris's exhibition was a work in process, and that was just the start. iris's goal on this trip was to incorporate as many feminine shapes to show the variety of divinity in women. alice went down to the museum not expecting to be taken for the photoshooting, she thought perhaps she could assist iris in some way. she was totally thrilled when iris said she wanted her as a model and said yes right away. alice said she was really enjoying to see how iris worked and be on set and learning a lot. bright girl!

It is 4am

It is now 4am and we are all tired. There was a lack of communication among the production team and the models so some models were there at 3am waiting outside the exhibition center. Everyone at except iris it cranky and complaining, including myself, because we really do not understand what is the plan. We were told one thing, and now the plan is another. It generally happens on big productions. When you are exhausted it is hard to be flexible in your mind. But every one of us just want to make something amazing and beautiful. It is all up to iris now. We are set to shoot nude in san marco square and we do not know if there will be police or people.

Dora and the assistant of serge work very fast and hard to prepare us all. Iris rushes off with two girls to start because it takes a long time to make up 7 girls when you were expecting only 3. Dorah changes the hair concept away from the long wigs and hair extensions to using our natural beauty. There is no time to do the full production now because the sun is coming up on the sunday morning. I am in a panic cuz i do not wish to miss the opportunity to shoot again with iris in this magic moment. Finally i am done and hugo rushes me off to find the others in the square.

The police start to follow us around, either to watch or to protect us-not sure which one. At least they did not arrest us. More and more people gather and iris orders the curtains to be put up to cover us a bit.
